Laboratory of Tribological and Fatigue Research
The laboratory conducts research aimed at:
- determining the influence of topography and surface condition on tribological properties,
- determining the influence of the surface layer of machine elements on tribological properties,
- determination of tribological characteristics of various friction pairs,
- determining the influence of a lubricant and frictionally cooperating materials on tribological properties,
- determination of durability and fatigue strength of machine elements and their connections,
- determining the influence of the layer condition on the fatigue strength of machine and device elements.
List of service and research work for the needs of the industrial environment that can be carried out in the laboratory:
- evaluation of tribological properties (friction coefficient, tribological wear, seizure resistance) of various material associations,
- determining the influence of the lubricant and the condition of the surface layer on the tribological properties (friction coefficient, tribological wear, seizure resistance),
- load tests of low-power worm gears (up to 2 kW),
- accelerated tests of durability and fatigue strength of machine elements and their connections,
- transport tests of products.
The main research equipment of the laboratory:
Tribological tester T-05
The T-05 tester with a roller-block combination is used to assess the lubricating properties of plastic greases, oils and solid lubricants, as well as wear resistance to metal and plastic friction, as well as to test the galling resistance of low-friction coatings applied to highly loaded machine elements. The T-05 tester allows to carry out tests in accordance with the methods specified in the American standards: ASTM D 2714, D 3704, D 2981 and G 77.

Tribological tester T-11 of pin-on-disc type for tests at temperatures up to 300 ° C
The T-11 tester with the pin-on-disc (ball-on-disc) friction couple is designed to assess the tribological properties of materials used for friction pairs of machine and device elements. It can be used to determine the wear resistance and sliding friction coefficient of the material, depending on the sliding velocity, surface pressures, the presence and type of lubricant, the ambient temperature of the friction junction, the type of gas in the test chamber and other factors. It is possible to study the phenomena of e.g. tribopolymerization and boundary lubrication. The T-11 tester enables tests to be carried out in accordance with the methods specified in the ASTM G99 and DIN 50324 standards.

ETS. SOLUTION L Series MPA-102-L620M vibration test system
The system enables the implementation of accelerated fatigue tests and tests of transport properties of products. It enables the realization of harmonic, stochastic and quick-change/shock waveforms as well as the function of searching, tracking and maintaining resonance. It generates quick-changing waveforms of semi-sine, sawtooth, trapezoidal and rectangular shapes. The minimum frequency range of 2kHz for harmonic and stochastic waveforms Dynamic range minimum 100dB. Loop time during harmonic waveform not more than 10ms Loopback time during stochastic waveform no more than 100ms

Station for testing worm gears
The station enables load tests of low-power worm gears up to 2kW with continuous measurement of temperature and torque at the input and output of the gear. In addition, we have equipment for shaping concave and convex contours of the winding of cylindrical screws with a pin tool that is twisted in relation to the axis of the screw.

Tooling for shaping lubricant micro-pockets
The methods enable the formation of micro-lubricating pockets, in particular on internal and external cylindrical surfaces, transition radii and on end faces. Steel or ceramic shaping elements are used for mechanical forming of machined surfaces. Surface texturing is mainly used in relation to the elements of the system: TPC (piston-ring-cylinder), slide bearings and sealing rings. Usually spherical recesses are formed. The machining technology using the proposed method is definitely cheaper than honing or laser methods, does not introduce thermal loads into the machining area, and the tooling is relatively simple and easy to use in various types of machine tools.
